Mixed Chorus is focused on building musicianship through singing. This course is structured so that students with relatively little musical experience can build practical musicianship skills while developing healthy vocal technique. Open to members from each grade level (freshmen, sophomore, junior, and senior), Mixed Chorus participants will perform several selections in conjunction with Chorale and study other (solo song) selections in a workshop format.
Chorale is our school’s elite large mixed vocal ensemble. The selection process for Chorale is largely based on a singer’s contribution to Mixed Chorus. In addition to singing with good intonation and a full, mature tone, a Chorale member should also be able to sight-read. Chorale members are highly reliable and routinely exhibit the capacity to work cooperatively in a large-group setting.
Singing in Mixed Chorus or Chorale is a group activity that strives to provide age appropriate challenges with regard to social, emotional and intellectual development.
Full House is a small mixed ensemble specializing in contemporary a cappella styles. This group rehearsed 2 to 3 hours a week after school, typically on Wednesday afternoons.
